Overview of the Pisces

Posted on in Astrology

Pisces is one of the Zodiac signs, from 19th February to 20th March. It is a mutable sign with water as its elements. As water is the most evolutionary element, Pisceans are believed to maneuver their personality easily with time and atmosphere. People born under sign are said to be very mystical, with frequently changing behavior. They are sensitive, impulsive and intelligent too. Pisces is unlike other water signs namely Cancer and Scorpio. People under this sign are easy to go, with pure emotions these people like to follow rather to lead.

The ruler planet of Pisces is Neptune, which represents fantasy. The blue color of the planet presides over the intuitive power of the person and also governs the spirituality. Pisceans are compassionate thus not bearing to see another living creature in pain.

Pisceans are said to be extravagant imaginative, due to which they find difficulties in distinguishing facts and fantasies as two separate subjects. People born with this sign are greatly intuitive and creative too, they are capable of being inspired by the smallest things. One of the finest qualities that they possess is that they have the traits of communicating their visions and thoughts through science and arts. Another exquisite trait is that they are self-sacrificing and very devotional too.

Although Pisces are said to be very talented and extremely intelligent, they are believed to spend most of their time in bewilderment. The symbol of Pisces with one fish facing upwards and another downwards illustrates how people under this sign are often stuck up in two way paths and are indecisive.

Buying Japanese Crafts Relating to the Stars

Posted on in Astrology

In Japan, stars are viewed as good luck and wish granting symbols. If you are lucky enough to live near a Japanese craft shop, then you will find many origami stars which are hand crafted in order to bring you luck. If you don’t live near one, finding a Japanese craft shop online may be your best bet.

Stars are used as wish symbols in Japanese culture. The most popular among these are origami wish granting stars. During the folding process, one writes their wish for themselves, the world, or a friend or family member inside. The wish is hidden when the folds have finished and the star is made. The star is then placed inside a glass jar, and the wish is then granted. Origami wishing stars are easy to make, and they are a popular craft given to children at school. You can make more complex stars with large pieces of paper, but these are harder and are more likely to rip or break in the folding process.

Another popular star reference in Japanese crafts is the star box. Again, this is another piece of origami, but this one is much harder than the simple star mentioned above. The star box involves a small box with a star as its lid. The star is usually elongated at one point, but it can be made to be even at all points with a little tweaking. You can find the processes to make this box on many sites online, but this one takes time and patients. If you want to see a finished product, make Japanese craft stores sell them, so you can either use this to gauge how yours is doing, or buy a readymade one. The craft stores will also have larger ones, as the boxes made from traditional origami paper are usually quite small and will only be able to fit a ring or a pair of earrings.

Another popular origami piece is the ninja star or Shuriken. These ones are loved by pre-teen boys all over the world, because a traditional ninja throwing star is very deadly. The only way the paper ones can cause harm is if they are thrown towards someone’s eye, so if you’re making them with your children or for a class project make sure everyone knows not to throw them at people’s faces. There are many different variations on the ninja star, so you can start out easy by creating the simple four point versions then work your way up. Origami ninja starts need two sheets of paper, so you can experiment with different colours to see which look the best or the prettiest. Japanese craft stores will have many of these available to purchase using many different colours that you might not be able to buy, so keep an eye out for crazy patterns and fabrics.

Your local store might have classes or seminars where you can learn how to create these stars for yourself, so keep an eye out and start folding.

History of Astrology – Origins and Beginnings

Posted on in History

According to legends, around 6000 years ago, in the top of an old Chaldean watchtower priests studied the skies. This is basically the earliest known practice of astrology, but it is a safe bet that it has been around much longer then this. This is what, considered to be the origin and beginning of astrology. Also, astrology and astronomy used to be considered the same thing. In many schools in America it is considered as a “pseudo science”. As time passed and “astronomy” became more “exact” and less about predictions and other esoteric things, astrology separated from astronomy.  Therefore astrology most certainly is not an exact science; it is filled with theories and speculation. As supposed in astrology there are four elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Astrology is also inter-related to horoscope and stars of a person as well. Factors like place of birth, date and time of birth of a person have great impact on how the astrological/horoscope chart of that person is going to be.

Astrology

The Fire Signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Because of this these people tend to be self motivated, inspirational and always mindful of the future. The Earth Signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. The earth element’s influence makes these folks materialistic (in a good way mostly) practical and conservative. The Air Signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. These people are very “people” oriented and get along well with others. They also tend to be highly intelligent and communicative. The Water Signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. The water element makes people under this sign intuitive, emotional and sensitive to the world around them. The Earth Signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. The earth element’s influence makes these folks materialistic (in a good way mostly) practical and conservative. The Water Signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. The water element makes people under this sign intuitive, emotional and sensitive to the world around them. Cardinal Signs are Aries, Cancer, Leo and Capricorn. The qualities being “cardinal” lends is that it tends to make them initiating, restless and goal-oriented. Fixed Signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. This means that these people, because of this, will have good powers of concentration and be somewhat stubborn and persistent. Mutable Signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. These people are very adaptable and tend to have very strong mental abilities. Also there is the presence of Zodiacs.

The zodiac (Greek word meaning “Circle of Animals”) is divided into 12 categories or “sun signs” in western astrology. The signs are a symbolic representation of what is known as phases of uninterrupted, ever flowing unending cycles of growth and evolution. This may be a bit hard to grasp, to help you, consider everything as a circle, within this is twelve similar but different smaller circles, each representing the flow of all elements under its influence. It will also help if you think of the zodiac as a continuous flow, without distinct, sharp defined borders, much the same way as colors do when looking at a spectrum. (Light through a prism). The signs of the zodiac also have “Polarity”. They are either positive or negative, but not in a “good or bad” point of view, better to think of it like a battery or a magnet, with it’s positive or negative poles, not good or bad, just different.

A Brief Introduction to the Zodiac Calendar

Posted on in Astrology, Zodiac Calendar

The zodiac calendar has a history dating back many centuries. It involves the fields of science, astronomy and culture. It usually refers to the fixed points of stars, constellations and celestial bodies throughout the year. There are 12 signs of the calendar.

The first point of the fixed constellations is Aries which is from March 21 to April 19. The sun crosses the equator at the two equinoxes in spring and fall. The name comes from the Greek god Ares. The next one is Taurus, which is a bull, from April 20 to May 20. This includes the Aldebaran star which is the right eye of the bull. It lies on Orion’s night sky. Then, there is Gemini from May 21 to June 20. It is named for the twin stars Castor and Pollux. It points to the two equinoxes and two solstices. Then there is Cancer which covers June 21 to July 22. It is the mythical crab Nebula. After that, there is Leo from July 23 to August 22. This sign is in the form of a lion and has importance in Babylonian mythology. Virgo, which ranges from August 23 to September 22, is the virgin goddess which points to the constellation of Astraea. It represents earth and the fall harvest.

The 7th sign in the zodiac calendar is Libra from September 23 to October 23. It signals the autumn equinox. It is in the form of the scales of justice. Next is Scorpio from October 23 to November 21 and in the form of a scorpion. It contains the bright red star Antares. From November 22 to December 21 is Sagittarius, the sign of an archer and centaur. Its arrows aim at Scorpio. Then there is Capricorn from December 22 to January 20 which has the shape of a goat. It is related to festival Saturnalia of the Romans. From January 21 to February 19 is the Aquarius. It pictures a water bearer that pours water on the ground which signal crops to grow. The last zodiac sign is the Pisces which covers February 20 to March 20. This is the form of two fish tied together. The cords that tie the fish together mark the ending of an equinox and the upcoming one that leads to Aries, yet another zodiac year.
